Q1. What is a PIN?
A Personal Identification Number, or PIN is a confidential series of characters that
enable a user to access their Tax Account Profile and file returns
electronically. The PIN also serves as an electronic signature. The user must enter
his/her PIN in order to file returns electronically. The PIN ensures that
unauthorized users do not access your information.
Q2. Where do I get a PIN?
A PIN is assigned to each active tax account.
You may obtain your PIN number by calling our Customer Service Number at
(312) 747-IRIS (4747). For security reasons you will be asked to confirm
confidential information about the business. You may also retrieve your PIN using the
Lost/Forgotten Pin function on the main login screen.
Q3. Can I select my own PIN?
Yes. The Chicago Department of Finance will assign one to you.
You may change it using the Change Pin utility if you choose.
