On Line Directory of Certified Minority and/or Women Business Enterprises
Disclaimer Statement
Firms listed in this Directory have been certified as Minority Business Enterprises (MBE) and/or Women Business Enterprises (WBE), which make them eligible to satisfy MBE/WBE goals on all City of Chicago contracts. The criteria, standards and procedures by which these certification decisions are made can be obtained from the Department of Procurement Services.
This Directory is to be used as an "informational source only" and the following must be considered:
- Certification by the City of Chicago does not mean that a firm is in any way pre-qualified to provide the products and/or services the firm claims it can provide. "Certification" means that the City has determined, on the basis of information provided on City application forms and investigations into the representations therein, that a business is a bona fide MBE and/or WBE. The Department of Procurement Services does not, as a result of this listing, make any representation concerning the ability of any listed firm to perform work in the specialty listed.
- The Department of Procurement Services disclaims any and all responsibility concerning errors, omissions, or misrepresentations, which may be contained herein. All contractors and other concerned parties are encouraged to contact the Division of Certification to report any irregularities.
- It is the responsibility of all contractors proposing the use of Certified firms on City-sponsored projects to: a) conduct their own investigation to determine the capability of MBE/WBE firms to satisfactorily perform the proposed work and b) assure that all proposed MBE/WBE firms have a current MBE/WBE certification letter issued by the Department of Procurement Services. All certifications are valid for one year. For this reason, the online Directory lists the most recent certification for all firms. Certification status notwithstanding, all prime contractors, subcontractors or joint venture partners are subject to final approval by the City if proposed on a contract.
Also listed within this Directory are Chicagoland businesses that responded to a City of Chicago questionnaire by indicating that they qualified as Section 3 business concerns. This is not intended to be an all inclusive directory, only
a supplemental resource. The City of Chicago takes no responsibility for the accuracy of the information provided to the City by these Section 3 business concerns. Please note that these businesses are required to provide documentation to business contacts verifying their status as Section 3 business concerns.
